Walking on roads, cobblestones, dirt trails. Stairs and inclines present. 
Start and end point: Volterra city center.

VOLTERRA HIKING TRAIL

Explore Volterra off the beaten trail: a guided tour outside the city center into the surrounding countryside and to the most significant archaeological sites.

Points of interest:

  • Etruscan necropolis of Marmini and megalithic city walls
  • Roman “Salt Road” and amphitheater view point
  • The Valley of the Mills: woods, orchards and olive groves
  • Le Balze geological formation
  • The Camaldolese Monastery

Time and distance: 4 hours; 8 km
